Huawei’s cybersecurity chief halts more than 100 products since 2011

Euractiv reports that more than a hundred Huawei products have been halted due to concerns that the items do not meet security standards since John Suffolk became the company’s cybersecurity chief in 2011. Suffolk noted that once a “no go� decision is found, the product is “sent back to the product line for remedial action.� He added, “If the product quality is really poor then disciplinary action will be considered.� Huawei has faced criticism for alleged ties to the Chinese government. At a media roundtable in Brussels, Huawei Senior Vice President Catherine Chen stated the company has no cybersecurity risk management framework in cooperation with the Chinese government.
