DPAs see results in GDPR enforcement despite public skepticism

Public reactions to EU General Data Protection Regulation enforcement actions have revolved around fines. There is a belief that a lack of stiff financial penalties means the law and its policing are not sufficient. Data protection authorities from EU member states have another line of thinking on the matter. Irish Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon, CNIL President Marie-Laure Denis and German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Ulrich Kelber each offered positive spins on GDPR enforcement and discussed their current privacy endeavors on the keynote stage at the IAPP’s Data Protection Congress in Brussels, Belgium.
